EATES (European Association for Trauma & Emergency Surgery), organizes meetings since 1995 in Oslo - Norway, Lyon - France, Athens – Greece ve Pisa – Italy every two years. 5th EATES congress was organized in collaboration with TATES (Turkish Association for Trauma & Emergency Surgery) during October 01-05, 2002 at the Istanbul Convention & Exhibition Center. During the opening President of EATES – Professor George Androulakis and the congress president Professor Mehmet Kurtoglu gave speeches, followed by a multivision show of “Anatolian civilizations”. TATES president Professor Cemalettin Ertekin was the General Secretary of the congress. Several panels and conferences were attended by several speakers from several European countries, United States, South Africa, and Turkiye. The meeting ended with a nursing session successing a very livid social program
