5th Turkish Regional Congress of Trauma & Emergency Surgery was held with the collaboration of Turkish Association for Trauma & Emergency Surgery (TATES) and Mersin University Medical Faculty, between September 23-26, 2004, at the Mersin Hilton Hotel. The congress president was Suha Aydin (Professsor of Surgery) and the general secretaries were Mehmet Caglikulekci (Associate Professor of Surgery), and Tamer Akca (Associate Professor of Surgery). All over the country 188 participants attended the congress. Pioneers of the field from all over the country, participated as speakers. During the congress 2 lectures, 9 panel (one of which was interactive). In terms of social program, a tour was organized to Kanlıdivane ile Cennet ve Cehennem in Mersin.
